Our National Strength - Protecting the Environment
Amid changing circumstances and events, the mission of the EPA remains constant. This
mission has assumed greater relevance in the minds of those Americans now charged with
keeping safe the water we drink, the air we breathe, and the communities where we live.From the local level on up, new attention is now focused on a
comprehensive range of environmental issues; and with this new focus comes a greater
reliance on the EPA for direction, guidance, and support.
As we strive daily to meet our more routine
responsibilities, let us be mindful of our history of accomplishments, and the legacy of
professional experiences we are able to draw on as a result of our longstanding commitment
to our mission: To protect human health and safeguard the environment.
